NOOR: the first steps towards providing
advanced technologies in Egypt

A cooperation agreement was signed
between NOOR Advanced Technologies,
Cisco Systems and NCR Corporation.
The details of this agreement will
enable NOOR to operate Frame Relay
Services, Virtual Private Network
(VPN) services, Data transfer and
Global Hosting thanks to the communications
network to be provided by Cisco
and based on multi-service IP &
ATM networking technology.
Dr. Basel Dalloul, NOOR’s
Chairman and CEO, states that “our
mission at NOOR is to provide Free
Internet access for Egypt, the Middle
East and North Africa in order to
encourage other businesses to benefit
from the Information Technology
era”.
While Eng. Hossam Ragheb, NOOR’s
General Manager, added, “NOOR
will be supported by the latest
technological achievements, and
that will ultimately benefit the
Internet users.”
Eng. Yasser El Kady, Cisco’s
Country Manager, commented, “The
Free Internet access project is
starting in Egypt because it is
here that the relevant experience
and expertise can be found. Egypt
is a center of Information Technology
in the region, and extending e-business
cooperation between the Middle East
and North Africa is foreseen.”
Providing this enhanced Internet
access is a national project that
will provide varied benefits such
as strengthening the efficiency
and skills of Egyptian and Arab
youth, thereby enabling them to
face the twenty-first century fully
prepared.
